Disney’s next Wish-class ship begins construction in Papenburg (Germany)

At the shipyard in Papenburg (Germany), Disney commenced the construction of its latest cruise vessel with a traditional steel-cutting ceremony. This event, a customary first step in shipbuilding, involved the operation of a large cutting machine to shape the initial section of steel—marking the formal transition from design phase to physical assembly.

The forthcoming vessel will be the fourth in Disney’s Wish-class series, following the Disney Wish, the Disney Treasure, and the recently unveiled Disney Destiny. Though the ship’s name and specifications remain undisclosed, indications suggest it will continue the established pattern of incorporating advanced engineering, thematic design inspired by Disney’s creative catalogue, and amenities aimed at family voyagers. New forms of entertainment and immersive features are planned, with precise details to be released in due course.

Elsewhere in the Papenburg yard, the Disney Destiny approaches another key stage. The vessel is scheduled for its “float out,” the point at which a completed hull exits the construction hall and meets open water for the first time. This signals the start of the final fitting-out phase, including the installation of interior accommodations and the commissioning of technical systems. The Destiny is expected to embark on its maiden voyage in November 2025.
