Polar Latitudes Expeditions and Albatros Expeditions have confirmed a merger that will unite their operations under a single brand, scheduled to launch in mid-October.
The fleet will comprise four vessels—Albatros' Ocean Albatros, Ocean Victory, and Seaventure, and Polar Latitudes' Ocean Nova—and is intended to expand the range of itineraries, ship experiences, accommodations, and expedition programs available to travelers.
The partnership brings together the established polar cruising expertise of both organizations. Albatros contributes its experience in Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, while Polar Latitudes adds its recognized leadership in immersive Antarctic voyages and citizen science initiatives.
Patrick Shaw, currently CEO of Albatros Expeditions, is set to lead the newly formed company, with Polar Latitudes founder John McKeon appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The unified brand, which will operate as Polar Latitudes Expeditions, will maintain dual headquarters in Vermont (USA) and Copenhagen (Denmark). Additional regional offices are to be located in Germany, China, Australia, and the UK.
According to company statements, the combined entity will emphasize operational reliability, sustainable practices, and the delivery of consistent, high-quality experiences for both passengers and trade partners. With consolidated resources and expertise, the new organization aims to strengthen its position in the polar expedition market while broadening the range of options for exploring remote regions.
