CCL-Carnival Cruise Line has resumed operations at Jamaica’s Ocho Rios port, with the Carnival Paradise reported as the first of the line’s ships to visit since the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
The restart, taking the place of the previously scheduled port of Montego Bay, reflects restoration progress at Ocho Rios and signals a key step in revitalising the island’s tourism industry following storm damage.
Jamaican tourism authorities indicate full-scale recovery efforts are ongoing, with the sector expected to return to operational capacity by mid-December.
Visitors arriving via the Carnival Paradise will be able to visit local attractions and participate in shore excursions that prioritise local business engagement—supporting both tourist experiences and the regional economy during the recovery phase.
In order to assist local communities, Carnival has encouraged guests to book company-curated excursions and has enabled onboard donations to support immediate relief efforts in Jamaica.
This return of cruise traffic to Ocho Rios not only restores a key maritime link but also underlines the broader resilience of Jamaica’s tourism infrastructure and its importance to the national economy.
