AmaWaterways has unveiled the first images of its new luxury Nile river ship, AmaNubia, which is scheduled to enter service in November 2026, while also advancing the refurbishment of AmaDahlia, due to return to service in September 2026. Together with AmaLilia, the vessels reflect the company's continued investment in Egypt as demand for luxury Nile cruises continues to grow.
Designed to accommodate just 76 guests in 38 staterooms, including 15 suites, AmaNubia has been conceived as an intimate, upscale vessel inspired by the colours, textures and artistic heritage of ancient Egypt. While sharing many of the onboard features and amenities of AmaLilia, the new ship introduces its own distinctive layout and regional design elements, creating a contemporary atmosphere rooted in local culture.
Guests will enjoy locally inspired cuisine, wellness facilities and guided excursions led by professional Egyptologists, who will provide historical insight through lectures and shore experiences throughout each voyage. AmaNubia will operate the company's Secrets of Egypt & the Nile itinerary, combining a luxury Nile cruise with hotel stays in Cairo and visits to some of Egypt's most significant archaeological landmarks, including the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Luxor Temple, Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Kom Ombo, Edfu and Aswan. The programme also includes exclusive access to Cairo's historic Abdeen Palace.
As part of the land programme, AmaNubia guests will stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence, while AmaLilia passengers will be accommodated at The St. Regis Cairo and AmaDahlia guests at The Ritz-Carlton, Cairo. Optional extensions are available to destinations including Abu Simbel, Alexandria, Jordan and Dubai, allowing travellers to expand their exploration of the region.
AmaWaterways' chief executive, Catherine Powell, indicated that Egypt continues to rank among the company's strongest-performing destinations, with growing interest from both guests and travel advisors. She noted that AmaNubia would further enhance the Nile experience through refined ship design, expert-guided cultural programmes and partnerships with leading luxury hotels, creating a seamless journey from arrival in Cairo through the completion of the cruise.
