The Musica-class vessel MSC Poesia has entered dry dock at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Malta as part of a major refurbishment programme ahead of her scheduled Alaska season beginning in May 2026, the operator has announced. This work represents the second significant upgrade of its kind for a ship of this class at the Maltese yard following the completion of sister vessel MSC Magnifica’s refit in December 2025. The project, managed internally by MSC Cruises’ technical department, forms part of what the line describes as its most extensive fleet upgrade initiative in the past decade and is timed for completion in April so that Poesia can meet her sailing commitments.
Upon conclusion of the dry-dock period, MSC Poesia will be fitted with the brand’s exclusive MSC Yacht Club concept, a segregated luxury space within the ship featuring 69 suites with private amenities and 24-hour butler service. Additional enhancements on board will encompass two specialty dining venues — an American-style steakhouse and an Asian-inspired sushi bar — along with a redesigned wellness and fitness area that incorporates a renewed spa, updated gym facilities equipped with Technogym systems, outdoor relaxation areas and a dedicated solarium space.
Following the refit, the vessel is scheduled to commence a series of 7-night itineraries from Seattle during the summer season, operating in Alaskan waters, and will later reposition to Miami for Caribbean sailings later in 2026–2027. The upgrade is part of a broader roll-out of the Yacht Club across all four ships in the Musica class, including MSC Magnifica, MSC Musica and MSC Orchestra, as the company continues to expand premium elements throughout this series of ships.
