Carnival Corporation and CCL-Carnival Cruise Line have been recognized by the Port of Seattle with two Sustainable Century Awards, reflecting ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impacts and advance sustainability initiatives across their operations.

Carnival Corporation received the Environmental Performance Award for its participation in the Quiet Sound program, a voluntary initiative that encourages vessels to reduce speed while transiting Washington State’s Admiralty Inlet. The program aims to lower underwater noise levels that can affect the endangered Southern Resident killer whale population. According to program data, Carnival Corporation achieved the highest participation rate among cruise operators involved in the initiative.

Carnival Cruise Line was presented with the Environmental Innovation Award for its “Our Sea Pledge” sustainability program. The initiative has contributed to a substantial reduction in food waste across the fleet, lowering the amount generated per guest by more than 50% since 2019. The program has also supported efforts to reduce single-use packaging, eliminating more than 116,000 glass bottles through closed-loop systems while enabling the recycling of more than 25 million pounds of material during 2025.

The awards form part of the Port of Seattle’s Sustainable Century Awards program, which recognizes organizations demonstrating measurable environmental performance, innovation and sustainability leadership within the maritime and aviation sectors.

The recognition highlights Carnival Corporation’s continued focus on environmental initiatives, including operational measures aimed at reducing emissions, minimizing waste and supporting conservation efforts in destinations and regions served by its brands.
