Acapulco Cruise Port unveils new brand identity as redevelopment moves forward

Acapulco Cruise Port has introduced a new brand identity, marking another step in the transformation of the Mexican port and its renewed positioning within the international cruise industry. The launch follows the beginning of operations under a 24-year concession agreement between Global Ports Holding (GPH) and the Administración del Sistema Portuario Nacional Acapulco (ASIPONA Acapulco), the first cruise port concession awarded to GPH in Mexico.

The new logo draws inspiration from Acapulco's iconic La Quebrada cliff divers, incorporating the city's distinctive rock formations and coastal waves. A turquoise colour scheme reflects the waters of Acapulco Bay, creating a visual identity intended to celebrate the destination's maritime heritage while supporting its future growth as a cruise destination.

The unveiling ceremony brought together representatives of the Government of Guerrero, ASIPONA Acapulco, Global Ports Holding, tourism organisations and members of the local community. State officials said the project represented an important opportunity to strengthen Guerrero's tourism sector, attract additional visitors and reinforce Acapulco's standing among Mexico's leading cruise destinations. They also noted that GPH's investment demonstrated international confidence in the destination's long-term potential.

ASIPONA Acapulco stated that the new identity marked the beginning of a new chapter for the port and reflected the shared commitment of both partners to develop a modern cruise facility. The authority also welcomed Emilio Vázquez Villanueva as General Manager of Acapulco Cruise Port, where he will oversee local operations and coordinate future development with government agencies, cruise lines and tourism stakeholders.

Global Ports Holding said the partnership established a long-term framework for strengthening Acapulco's position within Mexican Riviera and West Coast cruise itineraries. The company plans to invest progressively across the ~17,199-square-metre concession area, modernising the cruise terminal, improving passenger flow, enhancing operational efficiency and safety, upgrading retail and food and beverage facilities, and creating new destination experiences that highlight Acapulco's culture, cuisine and maritime heritage.

In parallel with the concession project, ASIPONA Acapulco is constructing a new 350-metre cruise pier, scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2027. The new infrastructure is expected to accommodate larger cruise ships and support the long-term growth of cruise tourism in the destination. The new Acapulco Cruise Port branding will be introduced across the terminal's signage, digital platforms, communications and passenger-facing materials as redevelopment progresses.
