The 124100-GT-ton, 3300-passenger cruise ship AIDAprima is AIDA Cruises' ever largest ship and is operated under the Costa Crociere division of the Carnival group. She is also the first of AIDA vessels built in Japan (Nagasaki).

The completion of AIDAprima at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was delayed and instead of entering service on October 1, 2015 the ship began cruising in April 2016 from Hamburg.

The cruise ship differs from the other vessels of the fleet by more space, variety and individuality.

AIDAprima is among the most technologically advanced ships on the planet. The hull is designed to reduce friction and to minimize the fuel consumption. Emissions (nitrogen oxide, sulfur oxide and soot particles) are minimized by the impressive 90 and 99 percent.

The 13-year-old German actress Emma Schweiger was chosen to christen AIDAprima in Hamburg, May 7, AIDA revealed. The young lady has appeared in hit movies such as Kokowääh, Head Full of Honey (Honig im Kopf), Rabbit Without Ears 1 and 2.
