Injured Girl Airlifted From Carnival Breeze

A child on a cruise that departed from Galveston had to be airlifted to a hospital in Florida after falling from a balcony, according to Carnival officials.

The accident happened aboard Carnival Breeze on Friday afternoon, August 4. According to a Carnival Cruise Line spokeswoman, the kid fell from a stateroom balcony to an outdoor deck a level below.

According to Coast Guard District 7 in Miami, the 5-year-old girl sustained facial injuries. Coast Guard arrived at the vessel around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The girl was in stable condition after the accident. She was airlifted to Tampa "as a precaution".

Carnival Breeze left Galveston July 30 for a cruise to the Caribbean. The accident didn't impact the journey.
