The Utah man who was accused of killing his wife aboard a Princess Cruises ship in Southeast Alaska will appear for an arraignment hearing on Wednesday, August 23.

An arraignment and detention hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. in federal court in Anchorage. 39-year-old defendant, Kenneth Manzanares, and the prosecutors will appear through a teleconference from Juneau.

Kenneth Manzanares faces first-degree murder charge in the death of his wife, 39-year-old Kristy Manzanares.

The couple were aboard Emerald Princess, about 50 miles southwest of Hydaburg, when Kristy was found dead of a severe head wound in the couple’s stateroom, after what the cruise line called a “domestic dispute.”

If convicted, the defendant faces life in prison or death penalty, and a fine of up to US$250,000.
