Norwegian Cruise Line increases the automatic gratuities charged to passenger accounts. The new rates take effect on April 1, 2018.

The cruise line informed travel agents of the “nominal adjustment” to daily service charges in an email.

The new rates for standard staterooms and mini-suites go from US$13.99 to US$14.50 per guest, per day. Charges for The Haven as well as other suite-level categories go from US$16.99 to US$17.50 per guest, per day.

Onboard the all-inclusive Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Sky, standard and mini suite charges go from US$18.99 to US$19.99. The charge for suites increases from US$21.99 to US$22.99.

Clients with bookings by March 31 are allowed to prepay gratuities at the current rates. Payments have to be made before the sail date. In case passengers have already prepaid gratuities, they will not be affected by the changes.

The increase is in keeping with a cruise industry trend. Both Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean announced rate changes in January.
