For the first time in AIDA Cruises' history, a whole family will officially christen the newest ship of the company, AIDAnova. Family Mirza from Hanau, Hesse was chosen from hundreds of applicants by a jury.
Sonja (31) and Asad (33) Mirza with their kids Sophia (2) and Adrian (3) will name the newest ship of AIDA on August 31, 2018. Nearly 25,000 spectators are expected to visit the event at Meyer shipyard in Papenburg. AIDA Open Air with spectacular show and live concert by DJ David Guetta is one of the greatest events in northern Germany. On the day of christening, Asad and Sonja will celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary.
AIDAnova cruise ship is the first of three AIDA Helios-class liners. The second ship (still unnamed) will be launched in 2021 spring, while the 3rd (TBN) will be delivered in 2023.
AIDA's Helios-class was preceded by the Hyperion-Class (AIDAprima and AIDAperla). AIDAnova is the company's 8th vessel built in Papenburg.
