American Cruise Lines announced the successful launch of its second new modern river boat American Harmony at Chesapeake Shipbuilding, Salisbury, MD on November 17.

American Harmony is the second modern riverboat in the United States and the second of five planned ships in American’s new series.

The first in the series, American Song, started cruising a sold out inaugural season on Mississippi in October and was the first modern riverboat in United States history. American Harmony is four weeks ahead of schedule and was launched 1 year to the day of her sister ship American Song. Construction also began on the third ship in the modern river boat series.

American Harmony features the same sophisticated design and state-of-the-art technical features of her sister ship American Song, including the unique opening bow and retractable gangway. She has 6 decks, large all-balcony cabins and a 5-story glass atrium.

Immediately after her launch, the ship was positioned in shipbuilder’s East Outfitting Basin where she will receive her upper decks and outfitting.

The Inaugural season of American Harmony begins in Summer 2019 on Mississippi River. Sister ship American Song repositions out West for 2019 cruising American’s Columbia & Snake River itineraries from March through October 2019.
