Active Shooter Drill at New Orleans Cruise Ship Terminal

An active shooter drill is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, at the cruise terminal at Port NOLA New Orleans, authorities announced. The drill will be held from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and will simulate a "full-scale response to a large-scale attack," according to the USCG/Coast Guard.

Area residents will hear and see large numbers of public safety personnel, sirens, equipment, and simulated gunfire.

The USCG is organizing the drill and revealed the following agencies will also be involved:

  • Port NOLA
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation
  • Customs and Border Protection
  • Local and state offices of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness
  • Louisiana State Police
  • New Orleans Police, Fire and EMS
  • Local sheriff's offices
