A crane lifted the first wall section of Port Canaveral’s Cruise Terminal 3 (CT3) parking garage on July 30 and carried the 52,000-pound concrete section to the designated location.

Due to be completed in May 2020, the 6-story, 690,000 ft2 (64,103 m2) parking garage will be part of a US$163 million terminal complex which is planned to become the home of Carnival Cruise Line’s most innovative ship, Mardi Gras, scheduled to arrive at Port Canaveral in October 2020.

Merritt Island-based Ivey’s Construction oversaw the operation. The company was awarded the contract to construct the 2-story, 187,000 ft2 (17,373 m2) terminal and adjacent parking garage.

The brand new terminal is dubbed “Launch Pad”. The multi-million terminal project is the largest in the Port’s 65-year history.
