VIDEO: AIDAmira Officially Named in Palma de Mallorca

On November 30, AIDA Cruises welcomed the 4th Selection Class ship, AIDAmira, to its fleet.

TV host Franziska Knuppe, with Capt. Manuel Pannzek by her side named AIDAmira Saturday evening at 11:00 p.m. in Palma de Mallorca.

A 20-minute fireworks display above the port opened the christening ceremony. Star guest Johannes Oerding entertained the 1,000 guests onboard with his hits. A highlight of the evening aboard AIDAmira was also the charity event for AIDA Cruise & Help, hosted by Mary Amiri.

Following the naming ceremony, the ship sailed on a Welcome Cruise in the Mediterranean scheduled until December 4 and taking the new Selection ship to Sete, Barcelona, and back to Palma.

During her premiere 2019-2020 season, AIDAmira is heading to southern Africa. Her 14-day voyage begins and ends in Cape Town. Further ports of call include Durban, East London, Luderitz. The highlight of the cruises is the multi-night stops at Walvis Bay and in Cape Town.

From May through September 2020 AIDAmira is due to be sailing from Corfu on Eastern Mediterranean cruises.
