Carnival Updates Dress Code Policy

Passengers on Carnival Cruise Line ships are not permitted to wear slogan t-shirts with inappropriate (offensive) language.

An update to the new dress-code policy specifies the type of clothing no longer allowed on board. It reads that "all guests are expected to ensure their clothing and accessories are respectful to fellow guests" and "items worn during the cruise should not contain any message that may be considered offensive or contain nudity, profanity, sexual innuendo/suggestions."

"Clothing (accessories) should not promote negative ethnic or racial commentary or hatred or violence in any form." Crew members would ask a passenger to remove any clothing that promotes “negative ethnic or racial, commentary, or hatred or violence in any form.”

The Carnival Cruise website states:

“We recommend long skirts and trousers, dresses and tops for the ladies and shorts, polo shirts and t-shirts for the gentlemen.

“Furthermore we suggest wearing flat shoes with rubber soles and low heels. For the meals, something more elegant will be ideal. You can also bring a cardigan or blazer.”
