Celebrity Apex returned to Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire over the weekend following a successful first sea trial. The Celebrity Cruises vessel followed in the footsteps of her Edge Series sistership, Celebrity Edge, surpassing performance expectations.
The sea trial, conducted between February 4-8 in the Bay of Biscay close to the shipyard, was overseen by over 50 crew members, including nautical experts and engineers. Despite the optimal trial conditions, such as strong winds and waves, the 2nd-in-series cruise ship showcased a superior level of fuel efficiency and comfort due to the revolutionary design of her Parabolic Ultrabow.
Celebrity Apex will begin her inaugural season on April 1 with a mini-season of 5 voyages to Northern Europe and then spend the summer sailing 7-to-12-night Mediterranean itineraries. In November, Apex will reposition to Fort Lauderdale FL for a winter season of week-long sailings in the Caribbean.
