CCL-Carnival Cruise Line on Friday, August 21, announced that its next Excel-class liner arriving in 2022 to coincide with the company's 50th birthday celebration will be named "Carnival Celebration."

A roster of CCL partners, including Kathie Lee Gifford, Shaquille O'Neal, and Guy Fieri unwrapped boxes that unveiled the letters of the Celebration name - a throwback to one of the popular early cruise ships in Carnival's fleet, as well as a recognition of its 50th birthday celebration that will take place in 2022 when the brand new Celebration will join the fleet.

Carnival Celebration is due to debut from PortMiami in November 2022 and will be a sistership to Mardi Gras, the first in the Excel series expected to enter service on February 6, 2021, from Port Canaveral FL. The addition of the Carnival Celebration to PortMiami will maintain the position of the port as the top embarkation port for Carnival.

Carnival Celebration will include a wealth of features that made Mardi Gras one of the most anticipated cruise ships in cruising, including the first roller coaster at sea, BOLT, along with unique design features created specifically for the vessel.

Carnival Celebration's itineraries are to be announced over the coming weeks.

The Celebration will be opening up for sale in October 2020.
