The shipbuilding company Concordia Damen completed (at Santierul Naval Severnav shipyard in Drobeta-Turnu Severin Romania) the hull of the latest addition to A-ROSA River Cruises' fleet.

In the next stage of the ship’s construction, the hull will be transported by the heavy-lift Yacht Express to Damen Shipyards (Gorinchem Holland), where Concordia Damen is expected to perform the outfitting.

With LOA length 135 m and width 18 m, Arosa Emotion has 5 decks and 140 staterooms ranging from 2-person to family units, making her the biggest boat to be deployed on Rhine River in terms of passenger capacity. Most cabins feature their own balconies and separate sleeping and living areas. Other family-friendly features include a kids' play lounge and pool along with a larger pool for all ages on the ship's sun deck. The restaurant will also boast a separate children’s eating area.

The adults will be able to enjoy a range of amenities including a whirlpool, sauna, heat bench, ice grotto, and treatment rooms. The staff and crew will have their own generously spaced staterooms along with, for the first time, their own rest & relaxation area.

Arosa Emotion cruise ship

In line with the principles of both Concordia Damen and A-ROSA, the new river cruise ship will have a focus on minimizing the impact on its surrounding environment.

The cruise line describes its newbuild riverboat as an ‘E-Motion’ ship which will be equipped with a hybrid propulsion system and a zero-emissions battery drive. A diesel engine is to be used for cruising, but when entering/leaving port the vessel will switch to an electric engine powered by the battery for emissions-free operations. Arosa Emotion will also be fitted for shore power. In addition, her hull has been optimized for minimum resistance - all excess energy and heat will be recovered where possible.

Delivery is scheduled for the 2022 spring in time for the summer season.
