Accident at Wightlink's ferry terminal in Portsmouth UK leads to cancellations

A 31-year-old man from Isle of Wight England has been arrested in connection with an accident at Wightlink's Portsmouth Ferry Terminal Thursday morning, June 3.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 3 AM following a report of a public order accident. They were told that a group of 6 men had refused to vacate the ferry terminal after being asked to leave by the staff.

According to police, one of the men had then boarded a waiting ferry and had refused to leave so specialist officers attended.

By 6 AM, the 31-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of "aggravated trespass and causing a public nuisance."

Currently, he remains in custody.

The 3 AM crossing from Portsmouth failed to operate because of the accident with the last vessel arriving in port, Victoria of Wight, at just before 2 AM.
