Crystal Expedition Cruises' newest yacht Crystal Endeavor was christened on Saturday, June 26, at MV Werften in Stralsund Germany.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig served as the ship's godmother and ceremoniously handed Endeavor over to the owner.

It is the first ship to be constructed after the takeover of the Stralsund shipyard by Genting Hong Kong in 2016. According to the yard, Crystal Endeavor is the largest luxury expedition yacht in the world. Her 10-day maiden voyage is scheduled to start in mid-July 2021 from Reykjavík around Iceland and into Arctic waters. The new 20,200 GRT, all-veranda, all-suite, all-butler serviced ship is the first-ever Polar Class 6 luxury expedition yacht “Made in Germany”. She sets a new standard in remote exploration with luxury, safety, and comfort never experienced before.

Prime Minister Schwesig is the first woman serving as head of government for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the state where Crystal Cruises' Endeavor was built as well as a region with a tradition of shipbuilding. A champion of women’s rights, human rights, and youth advocacy, Schwesig, was the youngest cabinet member in Angela Merkel’s 3rd cabinet and is a member of many boards including serving as a Trustee for Plan International, a humanitarian organization working in 70+ countries across the world.

The christening ceremony for Crystal Endeavor was live-streamed on the Crystal Cruises Facebook page.
