Burgas, sometimes transliterated as "Bourgas", is the 2nd-largest city on the Black Sea Coast of Bulgaria and the 4th-largest in Bulgaria following Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna. Burgas has a population of 200,300 inhabitants, according to 2011 census. It is also the capital of Burgas Province, as well as an important industrial, cultural, transport and tourist centre.

The city of Burgas is surrounded by Burgas Lakes and situated at the westernmost point of Black Sea, at the big Burgas Bay. Lukoil Neftochim Burgas is currently the largest oil refinery located in southeastern Europe and the biggest industrial enterprise. The Port of Burgas is the biggest in Bulgaria. Burgas Airport is the 2nd most important in the country. The city of Burgas is the center of Bulgarian fish processing and fishing industry.
