Eureka is a port city in California USA (Redwood Empire region, Humboldt County), located approx 430 km (270 mi) north of San Francisco and approx 160 km (100 mi) south of Oregon state's border. The urban area has total area 48 km2 (19 mi2) and population around 45,000.

As cruise port, Eureka CA is visited by smaller-sized ships and superyachts, from ultra-luxury travel brands like Silversea, Seabourn, RSSC-Regent Seven Seas, Scenic, Oceania.

Eureka is the biggest coastal city between Portland Oregon and San Francisco CA. It is the regional center for trade, government, and health care on the USA's North Coast north of the San Francisco Bay Area. Greater Eureka is also ranked one of California's major commercial fishing ports. It is also the biggest deepwater port between Coos Bay and San Francisco - a stretch of ~800 km (500 mi).

Eureka's Humboldt Bay (on the Pacific Ocean) is the main port zone with several piers and wharves serving predominantly fishing vessels. In the mid-19th-century, the town originally developed on salmon fisheries (along Eel River) processing mainly cured fish and smoked salmon. With the fishing industry soon was also developed shipbuilding. Today, Humboldt Bay houses West Coast USA's biggest oyster farms. Eureka's 100+ fishing boats are homeported at two dedicated marinas with ~400 slots) plus a marina in Fields Landing (with berthing capacity ~50 boats). Along with salmon, today are also processed tuna, crabs, shrimps.

The town played a major role in the West Coast lumber trade. Eureka is a state historical landmark having hundreds of Victorian-era buildings, including the Old Town's Carson Mansion (1886-built, currently owned by the private Ingomar Club). Here is also the Sequoia Park Zoo - California's oldest zoo (1907-opened) covering land area of 2 hectares/5 acres.
