Libourne is a commune in Gironde department, Aquitaine (southwestern France). It is located at the confluence of Isle and Dordogne rivers. Libourne is a sub-prefecture of the Gironde department. It is also northern Gironde's wine-making capital and lies close to Pomerol and Saint-Émilion.

The Gothic church, restored during the 19th century, features a stone spire 71 m (232 ft) high. On the quay there is the famous machicolated clock-tower - a survival of defensive walls of 14th century. The town-house, containing a library and a small museum, is a quaint relic of 16th century. It is situated by the main square, Place Abel Surchamp, that hosts every weekend one of the region's largest fresh food markets. There is a statue of Elie, duc Decazes, born in the neighborhood.
