  • boat rescue - 2024 (2 sailors off Mujeres Island, Mexico)

29 January 2024Boat Rescue

On January 29, 2024, while en route from Texas USA to Honduras, the ship's crew rescued two sailors stranded on a kayak, adrift off Isla Mujeres (Mexico). Both men were left stranded in the open sea following the sinking of their boat.

The ship immediately informed CCL's Fleet Operation Center staff in Miami (Florida USA), who then coordinated the rescue and transfer operation with the Mexican Navy.

The men were retrieved from the waters and boarded the ship where were received medical evaluation and food. Shortly after, the Mexican Navy arranged their transfer back to shore.

Carnival Jubilee's voyage continued as scheduled and was not affected.

The incident occurred at the beginning of the 7-day "Western Caribbean Cruise" (itinerary Jan 27 - Feb 3, roundtrip from Galveston TX) visiting ports in Honduras (Mahogany Bay, Roatan Island/Jan 30) and Mexico (Costa Maya/Jan 31, and Cozumel/Feb 1).
