25 February 2023Crew / Passenger Deaths

On February 25, 2023, a 32-year-old male crew died in a hospital in Puerto Williams (Chile). The man (Tunisian) was medevaced after the ship returned back to homeport for an emergency anchoring off Puerto Williams (on Feb 19th/anchorage stay 1:38-2:46 UTC).

The man (employed on the ship as an Assistant Waiter) was ambulanced to Hospital Comunitario de Puerto Williams Cristina Calderon where he died on Feb 25th.

The incident occurred during the 10-day "Antarctica Cruise" (itinerary Feb 18-28, roundtrip from Puerto Williams), visiting Drake Passage (Feb 19-20), Antarctic Peninsula (Feb 21-24), South Shetland Islands (Feb 25), Drake Passage (Feb 26), Cape Horn (Feb 27).

09 December 2004Crew / Passenger Deaths

(overboard) On December 9, 2004, a male crew was reported missing (lost at sea) and jumped overboard. The incident occurred at ~4 am, while the ship was en route from Montevideo Uruguay to Punta Arenas Chile. A note left by the man in his cabin indicated suicide due to marital problems. The ship conducted a ~2-hour search operation in the area. The body was never found.
