Ocean Gala cabins review
The ship’s 768 passenger staterooms (13 categories) included 3 Suites, 472 Oceanview, 284 Inside, 28 Single and 4 Wheelchair-Accessible cabins.
Below is a review of MV Island Escape staterooms, including furniture, amenities and complimentary services:
All staterooms feature one queen-size bed or two single beds (arranged side by side or in an L-shape), a living area (full-length closets with two wardrobes and drawers), a private bathroom (WC and shower with curtain), flat-screen TV, radio, direct-dial telephone, chargeable safe, and individually controlled air conditioning. Hairdryers are provided only in Suites and Deluxe cabins; guests in lower cabin categories may request a hairdryer from Reception.
All suites offer a separate living area (with bar, refrigerator and PC socket), a dining area (with media center), and marble bathrooms with whirlpool bathtubs. Balcony cabins are also equipped with a refrigerator and PC socket.
Standard Suite cabins feature picture windows, a king-size bed and a sofa bed accommodating a third guest.
Passenger stateroom layouts range from bunk-bedded cabins (with one upper and one lower berth), to standard Oceanview and Interior cabins (with twin beds that can be converted), to Deluxe cabins, which are slightly larger than Premier cabins.
Premier cabins are larger than standard Outside cabins and feature large picture windows. These staterooms also include seating areas (sofa bed, table and chair), with some cabins offering obstructed views.
Most Outside cabins are fitted with picture windows, while some feature porthole windows. A number of Golden Deck 9 staterooms have obstructed views due to lifeboats.
Single cabins are equipped with one single bed, one wardrobe and a private bathroom (WC and shower).
Thomson Cruises Island Escape guests were able to select their deck location by booking specific cabin numbers in advance (a nominal fee per stateroom applied).
Thomson’s “Premier Service” was available exclusively to guests in Deluxe and Suite cabins. Included perks comprised priority check-in, once-weekly continental breakfast in bed, complimentary pressing (available during the first 24 hours onboard, limited to three items per person), and concierge services for dining and shore excursion reservations.
Express services (airport check-in and luggage delivery) were subject to availability at ports of call.
