Viking Eldir cabins review

Approximately 75% of Viking Eldir staterooms feature balconies. All Suite accommodations have two separate rooms – a living room (with a step-out balcony) and a bedroom (with a French balcony).

The Viking Cruises longship design allows the Middle and Upper decks to include a starboard row of balcony cabins, each with a full, open-air, step-out veranda.

There are 8 cabin categories in total (maximum capacity of 2 guests per cabin).

The ship does not have self-service laundry facilities (laundromats).

Below is a review of longship Viking Eldir staterooms, including furnishings, price-inclusive amenities, and complimentary services:

All staterooms include standard (complimentary) amenities such as hotel-style beds (79 x 63 inches / 200 x 160 cm) with ample under-bed storage for suitcases, optional twin-bed configuration, sliding-door wardrobe (with wooden hangers), dimmable LED lighting, and a private en-suite bathroom (glass-enclosed shower, heated floor, anti-fog mirror, hairdryer, razor-only outlet, premium toiletries/L'Occitane bath products, plush bathrobes and slippers upon request). Additional features include a phone, mini-fridge, electronic safe (in the closet), 40-inch HDTV (with channels CNN, FOX, CNBC, NG, MGM, Sky Cinema, infotainment system with Internet and on-demand movies, “View From the Bridge” real-time webcam views, and a ship information channel), individual air-conditioning, 220V / 110V power outlets, and USB ports.

Each Veranda Stateroom features a private step-out balcony with lounge furniture (low table and two deckchairs).

French Balcony cabins, Veranda Staterooms, and Suites are equipped with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors.

The two Standard Cabin categories (E and F) are water-level staterooms located on the Main Deck only. Instead of a full (step-out) or French balcony, they have small (non-opening) windows positioned near the ceiling.

Price-inclusive cabin amenities include daily replenished bottled water, a bowl of fresh fruit, free Wi-Fi internet (shipwide coverage), and a personal cabin steward providing twice-daily housekeeping service.

Both Explorer Suites (located aft on Upper Deck 3) are the ship’s largest accommodations. They feature a wraparound veranda, separate lounge and bedroom, a walk-in closet, and a larger bathroom with a dual-sink vanity. Veranda Suites (all on Upper Deck 3) also include walk-in closets and separate bedrooms with direct access to the bathroom.

Additional suite-only complimentary perks include:

  • (categories ES and AA) early check-in (no later than 12 noon), Viking Air Plus (flight package), laundry and shoeshine services, daily fruit plate, champagne upon boarding, a fully stocked mini-bar (replenished daily with wines, beers, and soft drinks), and in-cabin binoculars (for onboard use only)
  • (category ES) breakfast room service, airport transfers (within Europe), coffee-making machine, Marius wool blankets, and the Silver Spirits package (all-inclusive beverages, including alcohol)
