MS Rhein Melodie (2005-built as Viking Sun, last refurbished in 2014) is the first of two specially designed Viking Cruises Rhine River ships, together with her sistership Viking Helvetia (now Rhein Symphonie). Both Viking riverboats – Sun and Helvetia – feature higher ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows in all public areas.
MS Rhein Melodie’s deck plan includes 99 passenger cabins, a Restaurant, Bar Lounge, Foyer (Tour Office, Reception Desk), Library, Gift Shop, and a Sun Deck with retractable awnings (shaded seating area with 4-seat tables and chairs, full bar service), a sunbathing area (loungers and deckchairs), and a deck games area (Giant Chess Set). Three staircases connect all decks. The ship has no lift (passenger elevator), swimming pool (or Jacuzzi), hair salon, or wellness facilities (Fitness, Sauna, Spa).
