Deck layout and review

Review of MS Spitsbergen deck 5 (Lobby-Dining)

  • The Gangway (narrow passage) is used for crew and passenger embarkation/disembarkation. It leads to an Entrance Hall, where is the Reception Desk and the Lobby. The lobby has panoramic floor-ceiling windows, a seating area, an Internet Cafe corner (4 computers, 1 printer) and the Video Games Arcade (starboard).
  • The Reception offers 24-hour guest assistance and information, and also serves the Hurtigruten tours and expedition program (booking, planning, information).
  • Next to the Arcade is the Kids Playroom (doubles as nursery, with babysitting services).
  • With forward location is the Main Lounge, also hosting daily multimedia presentations and professional lectures by expert scientists and wildlife experts.
  • The Bistro (midship-portside location) sells light snacks and drinks (24-hour open).
  • A small shop sells Hutigruten logoed merchandise, hand-made Norwegian souvenirs, toys, special occasion gifts.
  • The aft-located Restaurant is the ship’s dining room, with large floor-ceiling windows and a buffet station and a self-service station for coffee-tea-juice. The Galley / Kitchen is adjacent to the Restaurant. The Restaurant offers buffet-style Breakfast (bacon, eggs, sausages, cold meats, cheeses, seafood, breads, cereals, fruits, porridge) and Lunch (salads, soups, hot/cold meats, seafood, vegetables, desserts). Dinner is 2-seating and waiter served (with a 3-course menu, featuring Scandinavian food specialties). Wine by the bottle is also offered at extra cost. Hurtigruten has a wine package available for purchasing at the Reception.
