MS Vasco de Gama’s cruise ship deck plan includes a total of 71 staterooms for 142 passengers, served by 21 crew and staff. The vessel has 4 passenger decks, 1 restaurant, 2 lounges with bars (1 forward, 1 aft with an outdoor terrace), a spacious sundeck relaxation area with shaded seating, and 1 elevator connecting all cabin decks. The ship has no fitness room, spa (massage room), sauna, beauty salon, swimming pool or jacuzzi (hot tub).

The riverboat is named after the Portuguese explorer and first Count of Vidigueira – Vasco da Gama (1463–1524). Following his 1497–99 world voyage, he became the first European to reach India by sea rather than by land, linking the two continents by an ocean route around Africa for the first time.
