MS Infante Don Henrique (built in 2003 and last refurbished in 2013) is one of CroisiEurope’s “4 Anchors” class ships, along with Beethoven, Botticelli and L’Europe (operating on the Rhine and Danube rivers), La Belle de Cadix (on the Guadiana and Guadalquivir rivers in Spain and Portugal), as well as CroisiEurope’s other Douro River ships in Portugal — Fernao de Magalhaes (sister ship), Gil Eanes, and Vasco de Gama (sister ship). The MS Infante Don Henrique deck plan includes 71 staterooms accommodating 142 passengers, served by a crew of 21. The ship has four passenger decks, one restaurant, and two lounge bars (one forward and one aft with a terrace). The spacious Sun Deck offers a shaded seating and relaxation area. An elevator connects all cabin decks. The vessel does not feature a fitness room, spa (massage room), sauna, beauty salon, swimming pool, or jacuzzi (hot tub).

The riverboat is named after Infante Dom Henrique de Avis (1394–1460), known as Prince Henry the Navigator (“Henrique o Navegador”). He was a key figure in the Age of Discovery (15th–18th centuries), an era of great maritime exploration that led to transatlantic voyages and expeditions across the Indian and Pacific oceans, as well as discoveries in the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
