AmaWaterways, which is the first major cruise travel brand to operate on Colombia's Magdalena River, announced details on two newly designed boats and itineraries debuting in 2024.

As the demand for cultural experiences continues to grow, the company is now accepting bookings for its extraordinary program in the heart of Colombia, with experiences awaiting onboard the custom-built ships AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia.

AmaWaterways announced the debut of 2 new ships - AmaMagdalena (launching on March 30th, 2024) and AmaMelodia (June 19th, 2024). Prices for 7-night voyages start at US$3,599 per person, double occupancy.

The intimate AmaMagdalena accommodates 60 guests while AmaMelodia holds 64 as it has two more cabins.

Starting in Spring 2024, passengers have the choice between two 7-night itineraries, Magic of Colombia and Wonders of Colombia. Operated out of two homeports - Barranquilla and Cartagena, both itineraries offer curated experiences including unique land tours and excursions.

Highlights on the itineraries include: uncovering the spirit of the “Land of a Thousand Rhythms” at a Carnaval celebration in Barranquilla; exploring the country’s fascinating cities through historical walking tours; birdwatching tours (1,900+ species of birds); visiting Palenque, the first “free city” in the Americas; riding an authentic paola through Calamar; witnessing the beauty of the great Magdalena basin.

While in Colombia, guests have the chance to make the most of their time and extend the journey with the line's optional pre-cruise land packages in Medellin and Cartagena, as well as a post-cruise land package in Panama City including a visit to Panama Canal's Gatun Lake.
