Earlier this month, Viking OCEAN's ship Viking Neptune experienced an incident where 100+ passengers became sick with Norovirus.
The CDC agency released a report stating that out of the 838 passengers on board, 110 had fallen ill, or 13,1% of all. Of the total 455 crew members, only 9 became sick, or 1,98%.
The symptoms reported by the affected individuals included abdominal cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea.
The virus outbreak took place during the 14-day North Atlantic voyage (June 6th to 20th) from Reykjavik Iceland to NYC New York USA.
The CDC mentioned that the crew increased their cleaning and disinfection procedures and collected stool samples for analysis.
According to CDC statistics, this is the 13th reported outbreak of sickness on a cruise ship this year.
