At least 30 dead after Philippine ferry capsizes in Laguna de Bay east of Manila

On Thursday, July 27th, a passenger ferry overturned in Laguna de Bay, located southeast of Manila, as a result of powerful winds.

The accident occurred near Talim Island (Binangonan municipality) at ~1 am.

The exact count of passengers is still uncertain, but it has been verified that at least 30 lost their lives, and 40 have been successfully rescued.

The emergency response efforts are currently underway.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, there may be ongoing disruptions in both maritime and land-based transportation in the vicinity as the emergency response continues to be in effect.
