MSC Cruises resumes voyages from Shanghai with MSC Bellissima ship

MSC Cruises resumed its operations in Shanghai, China, with the MSC Bellissima leading the way as the first international cruise line to restart sailings from the Chinese mainland post-COVID.

Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises, emphasized the significance of this milestone for the global cruise industry's recovery and expressed gratitude for the rapid revival seen in the Chinese cruise market.

The relaunch event underscored MSC Cruises' unwavering dedication to China, highlighting the country's continued strategic importance for the company.

The MSC Bellissima, renowned as Asia's largest flagship cruise vessel, boasts a max passenger capacity 5686 across 2244 staterooms, positioning it as the world's third-largest passenger ship by capacity.

Onorato reaffirmed MSC's commitment to introducing modern Asian flagship vessels to the region and reiterated their ongoing investment in China to support the local economy.

Additionally, MSC announced its winter 2024-2025 deployment in China, positioning itself as the sole international cruise brand to operate from 4 Chinese ports and deploy 2 vessels within its first year back in the region.
