A P&O Australia vessel (Pacific Encounter) successfully conducted a rescue operation to assist 3 stranded sailors off New Caledonia on Saturday, May 4th.

The 18-deck ship, carrying ~3000 guests, altered course upon receiving a distress call and immediately diverted to aid in the rescue.

The sailors, two men and a woman sailing from Queensland to Noumea, had encountered a broken mast and power loss on their yacht, leaving them stranded at sea for 3 days.

Upon retrieval by the crew, all 3 individuals from New Caledonia were found to be in good health after assessment by the onboard medical team.

Subsequently, Pacific Encounter resumed her voyage towards Noumea.

The ship's current cruise is a 7-day roundtrip "Pacific Island Hopper" from Brisbane QLD. The itinerary started on May 3 and ends on May 10.
