In response to increasing demand for river cruise experiences in Central Europe, TUI Airways has announced the introduction of a new direct flight route from Birmingham to Budapest (Hungary).

Commencing on May 4th, 2026, this weekly Monday service is scheduled to operate until September 2026, facilitating convenient flight connections for travelers embarking on TUI Cruises' Danube River voyages.

The new fly link supports TUI's deployment of three riverboats—TUI Isla, TUI Maya, and TUI Skyla—on the Danube for the full summer 2026 season. The ships will offer a variety of itineraries exploring the cultural and historical richness along the Danube River.

One of the highlighted itineraries includes the 7-night "East Danube Explorer" cruise (TUI Isla) departing from Budapest and visiting ports such as Mohacs and Kalocsa in Hungary; Novi Sad, Donji Milanovac, and Belgrade in Serbia; and Vukovar in Croatia. This package, starting at GBP 1,529 per person, encompasses the voyage, return flights from Birmingham, 25 kg of checked luggage, transfers, tips, and service charges.

For travelers interested in flight-only options, TUI offers return flights from Birmingham to Budapest, with departures on May 11 and returns on May 18, 2026. Prices start at GBP 241 per person, including 15kg of checked-in luggage and 10kg of hand luggage.

Additionally, the new flight route serves TUI's Lakes & Mountains program, providing access to destinations such as Lake Balaton. A 7-night holiday to Siófok, Lake Balaton, staying at the 4T Hotel Azur Premium on a half-board basis, is available from GBP 1,033 per person, including return flights from Birmingham, 23kg of luggage, and transfers.

This strategic expansion enhances TUI's offerings for UK travelers seeking culturally enriching experiences along the Danube River and in the surrounding regions.
