The second Sphere-Class vessel of Princess Cruises, the Star Princess, has completed its sea trials and remains on course to receive its first passengers on October 4th, 2025. The ship, presently under construction at the Fincantieri yard in Monfalcone, Italy, undertook her trials in the Adriatic from 9th to 12th August. Departing the yard, she proceeded to sea where her steering, navigation systems, and propulsion underwent a full series of examinations.

The Star Princess is the second LNG-powered vessel in the Princess fleet, representing a further measure toward reduced emissions. Her propulsion arrangement includes two Azipod units capable of delivering thrust through a full 360 degrees in either direction, supplemented by four controllable-pitch bow thrusters to provide fine control in close quarters.

Captain Gennaro Arma, a 27-year officer of the company and leader of the Sphere-Class newbuild project, directed the trials. He reported that the ship handled with notable precision and that the navigation systems met expectations. He added that his crew of 1,600 is now engaged in the final outfitting ahead of the vessel’s inaugural sailing from Barcelona.

Measuring 177,800 tons and designed for 4,300 guests, the Star Princess is the sister ship to the Sun Princess. Her facilities will include thirty dining and bar venues, an array of entertainment and leisure spaces, and accommodations ranging from Sanctuary Collection suites to balcony staterooms. Over 1,500 of these rooms will offer private sea views.

Notable public spaces will include The Dome, a multi-purpose relaxation and performance venue; The Arena, the line’s most advanced theater to date; The Piazza, with its curved architecture, floor-to-ceiling glazing, and open sea vistas; and Spellbound by Magic Castle®, a lounge and performance experience developed in partnership with the Hollywood establishment of the same name.

Following her debut, the Star Princess will undertake a varied inaugural program, including itineraries in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Panama Canal, and Alaska.
