Ponant Explorations has introduced a new 12-night expedition roundtrip from Longyearbyen (Spitsbergen Island, Svalbard Archipelago), aboard Le Commandant Charcot, scheduled for summer 2027.
The voyages are tailored for guests seeking an Arctic exploration that reaches 90° North while requiring less time commitment than longer pole sailings.
Departures from Longyearbyen are scheduled for July 27th, August 8th, August 20th, and September 1st, 2027.
Each itinerary will traverse the drifting sea ice of the Arctic Ocean en route to the Geographic North Pole, with opportunities to observe wildlife—polar bears, seals, whales, arctic foxes—and to engage in expedition-style shore and ice-based activities such as kayaking, Zodiac outings, ice landings, snowshoeing, and a polar plunge.
These journeys include round-trip airfare between Paris and Longyearbyen, Svalbard transfers, and full all-inclusive service on Le Commandant Charcot, which is equipped for polar navigation and designed to blend scientific support, environmental stewardship, and luxury.
The 12-night new itinerary responds to demand from the Americas for polar expedition experiences that balance depth of exploration with feasible schedules. The offering complements Ponant’s existing longer North Pole voyages.
