The new terminal at Las Palmas Port, now recognized as the largest cruise facility in Europe, commenced operations on October 2nd, 2025, with the docking of Celebrity Apex at Santa Catalina Pier.

The terminal, managed by Global Ports Holding/GPH in collaboration with local partner SEPCAN, encompasses 14,000 m2 over 2 levels and is served by 3 boarding bridges. The terminal can accommodate up to 4 vessels simultaneously, serving both transit and homeporting operations.

Beyond the terminal’s building, an external esplanade exceeding 17,800 m2 connects the facility to the city via landscaped areas, pedestrian pathways, and a restored palm grove that leads to Calle Mayor de Triana - the city's main boulevard.

The development forms part of an EUR 40 million investment program focused on upgrading cruise infrastructure across Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote. Construction was carried out by Satocán under rigorous environmental and technological standards, employing recycled materials, solar energy, and energy-efficient systems to minimize the environmental footprint.

Support from the Las Palmas Port Authority was instrumental in upgrading the adjacent port areas, ensuring safe and efficient operations for passengers and service providers alike.

The inaugural call of Celebrity Apex was commemorated with a plaque exchange ceremony attended by the ship’s captain, port officials, and local representatives. Guests were welcomed with a tasting of traditional Gran Canarian products, marking the beginning of the terminal’s operations and a new chapter in the island’s cruise tourism development.
