Oceania Cruises has unveiled a new digital Art Experience that debuted aboard Oceania Allura when the vessel entered service on November 13th. The programme is designed to expand the line’s onboard enrichment offerings through an interactive, technology-driven approach to viewing and understanding contemporary art.
The initiative features nearly 30 works created by 14 artists from seven countries. Among the contributors are Chilean-born abstract expressionist Roberto Matta and U.S.-based artist Judy Pfaff, known for her spatial paintings and installations. The wider group includes artists such as Bobbie Burgers and Eduardo Arranz-Bravo, whose works represent a range of styles and mediums extending from fine art to sculptural pieces.
The experience is delivered through a dedicated website accessible on guests’ mobile devices. QR codes positioned throughout Decks 5 and 6 enable visitors to access short documentary-style films produced by the design agency Conductr. These films offer insight into the featured artists’ methods, influences and creative philosophies. Oceania’s Chief Luxury Officer, Jason Montague, noted that the Art Experience has been developed to integrate visual culture more prominently into the vessel’s design by encouraging discovery throughout its public spaces. Conductr’s co-founder, Jos van der Steen, indicated that the project was shaped to align with the cruise line’s emphasis on detail and guest engagement.
The core of the collection is situated around the Grand Lounge and the Martinis bar, where the artworks complement the venues’ atmosphere. Guests may explore the installations independently, though the digital platform also provides a suggested route for those who prefer a guided structure. A curated selection of the displayed works will be offered as limited prints for purchase, enabling travellers to take home a tangible record of their voyage.
