NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line has charted a novel course in its onboard entertainment for the upcoming launch of Norwegian Luna in March 2026.
The new ship’s program includes two headlining productions: Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John, a concert-style tribute drawing on archival footage and imagery to recreate the spirit of Elton John’s legendary career, and HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder, a sci-fi show that fuses Cirque-style performance with mixed-reality visuals. These productions were developed by NCL’s Creative Studios in Tampa and are intended to appeal to a wide audience, from long-time music fans to multigenerational families.
The Elton John tribute brings to life many of his most iconic songs — “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” among others — within a staging that features elaborate choreography, bold costumes, grand pianos, and vivid LED production. The mixed-reality show introduces the original character HIKO, who appears not only on stage but also throughout the ship, while four gymnasts perform gravity-defying routines against a backdrop of 3D-mapped, immersive visuals.
For younger passengers, the ship offers Sea of Discovery! An Under-the-Sea Festival, an interactive, ocean-inspired experience designed to stir curiosity and creative engagement. There is also content geared toward adults: LunaTique is a late-night, 21+ production influenced by Las Vegas-style circus acts, while Syd Norman’s Presents: A Tribute to Eagles revives classic rock in a familiar venue.
The evenings aboard Luna are further energized by reimagined themed deck parties: Island Nights, which channels island rhythms with a modern pop sensibility, and Latin LIVE!, a high-energy celebration with live percussion, dance, and vocals.
This entertainment lineup marks a deliberate move by NCL toward immersive, headline-driven programming that matches the bold design and ambition of its new Prima Plus-class ship.
