Work has commenced on a new cruise terminal at PortMiami dedicated to Royal Caribbean Group, representing an investment of US$345 million. The facility is being developed to accommodate the demands of the company’s largest vessels and is designed to process up to 7,000 passengers per call.

The terminal building will incorporate multi-level parking, an intermodal transport facility and supporting infrastructure intended to serve large-capacity ships, including those of the Icon class. Known as Cruise Terminal G, the complex will be reserved for Royal Caribbean Group operations while retaining the flexibility to handle more than one vessel. Completion is scheduled for late 2027.

The project is being financed through a partnership between Miami-Dade County and Royal Caribbean Group. The terminal is planned as a single-berth facility, with an emphasis on efficient passenger flow during embarkation and disembarkation. Its design integrates contemporary approaches to cruise terminal construction, energy efficiency and passenger processing, with the objective of improving overall operational performance and the traveller experience.

Royal Caribbean Group’s leadership described the development as a significant long-term investment in Miami, noting that the terminal would employ advanced technology and sustainable design principles. The facility is intended to support the group’s three cruise brands—Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea—while contributing to local employment and the regional economy.

Miami-Dade County officials characterised the terminal as a further step in the ongoing development of PortMiami, highlighting its role in modernising port infrastructure and enhancing operational efficiency through the use of innovative technologies.
