New specialty dining venues commissioned aboard Diamond Princess

Princess Cruises has expanded the onboard culinary programme aboard Diamond Princess, commissioning two specialty dining venues that are now open for reservations across all scheduled sailings. The vessel, with a gross tonnage of 115,875 and a passenger capacity for 2,670, introduced Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill as additions intended to diversify dining options for guests throughout its Asia and Japan deployments.

Makoto Ocean, previously introduced on other vessels in the fleet, was installed on Deck 7 and presents an Edomae-style sushi menu developed from the culinary techniques of Chef Makoto Okuwa. The venue’s offerings include items such as truffle salmon, snow crab temaki and toro tartare, accompanied by handcrafted cocktails inspired by Japanese ingredients, all reflecting Princess’s emphasis on globally influenced cuisine at sea.

The Crown Grill occupies the space formerly assigned to the Savoy Dining Room on Deck 5 and represents the line’s signature steakhouse concept. Its menu features premium aged beef, selected chops and fresh seafood, with the venue recognised within the cruise industry as among the notable steakhouses at sea.

Both dining venues are offered at a cover charge of approximately US$55 per person, and access is included for passengers who elect the Princess Premier fare package, which incorporates specialty dining among its benefits.

The enhancements form part of the vessel’s broader deployment across Asian waters, where Diamond Princess will operate itineraries from Singapore and through the region before repositioning for an extensive Japan season in 2027 alongside its sister ships.
