NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line has released the first official architectural renderings and video material of its newest vessel, Norwegian Luna, as the ship commenced its inaugural transatlantic crossing.

The vessel received its first passengers on March 10th, at Civitavecchia-Rome, and is scheduled to make its USA debut in Miami on March 23rd.

The released images illustrate the vessel’s contemporary architecture, with emphasis on open deck areas and public spaces designed to provide passengers with flexible movement throughout the ship and unobstructed views of the sea.

Marc Kazlauskas, NCL's President, indicated that the new ship represented a clear example of the company’s approach to modern cruise design. After personally reviewing the vessel, he noted that its exterior deck spaces, smaller retreat areas, and extensive entertainment and dining options were intended to bring passengers closer to the ocean while offering varied onboard experiences. He also stated that the company anticipated the ship’s arrival in Miami and the beginning of its inaugural Caribbean season, during which the vessel would include visits to the company’s private island destinations, Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye.

Luna is sistership to Norwegian Aqua and incorporates several new attractions. Among them is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid attraction combining elements of a waterslide and roller coaster. The installation was recently recognised by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions with the award for Best Water Park Ride or Attraction.

Additional deck installations are intended to accommodate multi-generational travel. These include Luna Midway, an outdoor amusement area inspired by traditional carnival games, Moon Climber, a multi-level obstacle course for both adults and children, and Horizon Park, a recreational space with lawn-style games located across the upper decks.

Wellness and leisure facilities include the two-level Mandara Spa, which contains treatment rooms, saunas, and a thermal suite overlooking the ocean through wide panoramic windows. An adults-only sun deck known as Vibe Beach Club provides loungers, cabanas, and bar service. Passenger accommodation ranges from studio cabins and interior staterooms to oceanview and balcony rooms, in addition to suites located within The Haven by Norwegian, a private enclave within the ship that includes a restaurant, lounge, bar, and sundeck along with butler and concierge services.

Entertainment programmes developed by the line’s internal production division include the concert-style stage show Elton: A Celebration of Elton John, dedicated to the music of Elton John, and HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder, a theatrical production combining multimedia design, acrobatics, and contemporary dance. Dining arrangements feature several complimentary venues such as Hudson’s, the Commodore Room, and the Indulge Food Hall, while specialty restaurants include Sukhothai for Thai cuisine, Onda by Scarpetta for Italian dishes, Le Bistro serving French cuisine, and Cagney’s, the line’s signature steakhouse.

Following its arrival in Miami, the ship is scheduled to undergo a christening ceremony on March 27th, 2026 before beginning regular service. Initial itineraries will include three- and four-day cruises to the Bahamas as well as seven-day sailings in the Eastern Caribbean. Between April and November 2026, voyages will include calls at ports such as Puerto Plata and St Thomas USVI, along with stops at Great Stirrup Cay. Recent infrastructure developments on the island include a new pier and tram system, the Great Life Lagoon swimming complex, and the adults-only Vibe Shore Club. A new attraction known as the Great Tides Waterpark is expected to open in summer 2026, incorporating nineteen waterslides, an 800-foot lazy river known as the Wandering River, and a family-oriented aquatic play area called Splash Cay.

Beginning in November 2026, Norwegian Luna will shift to Western Caribbean routes, visiting destinations such as Roatán, Cozumel, and Harvest Caye off the coast of Belize.

In April 2027, NCL Luna is scheduled to start homeporting operations from New York City. From April 6th, 2027 onward, the ship will conduct 4- to 7-day voyages from NYC to Bermuda, including overnight stays at the Royal Naval Dockyard (Kings Wharf, Bermuda).
