Virgin Voyages has announced a new themed cruise programme titled On Air at Sea, developed in partnership with iHeartMedia. The initiative will feature voyages built around established podcast franchises, combining traditional cruise itineraries with live audio programming and fan-focused events at sea.
Each sailing in the series will centre on a particular podcast brand and will include live recordings, guest interactions with podcast hosts and organised shore excursions in Bermuda. The concept is intended to bring podcast audiences together in a shared environment where digital content can be experienced in a live setting.
The inaugural voyage, titled Stuff at Sea, is scheduled to depart New York on October 2nd, 2026 aboard the cruise ship Valiant Lady. The five-day sailing will focus on three podcasts from the Stuff network: Stuff You Should Know, Stuff They Don't Want You to Know and Stuff Mom Never Told You.
The programme will feature the hosts of these shows recording episodes in front of a live audience while also participating in meet-and-greet sessions and themed activities on board. The podcasts cover a range of subjects, from scientific and historical topics to conspiracy theories and cultural discussions, reflecting the broad editorial scope of the Stuff network.
Company representatives indicated that the concept aims to transform podcast fandom into an interactive travel experience by bringing audiences and creators together in a shared environment at sea. Meanwhile, iHeartMedia officials stated that the collaboration would allow one of the podcast industry’s most engaged listener communities to experience its content in a collective setting beyond the traditional digital platform.
In addition to the podcast-themed sailings, Virgin Voyages has also announced plans for further specialty voyages. Among them is a five-night sailing organised for alumni of Pennsylvania State University and supporters of the Penn State Nittany Lions, scheduled to depart on August 3rd, 2026 aboard the cruise ship Resilient Lady.
The introduction of the On Air at Sea series forms part of a broader trend within the cruise industry toward themed sailings designed around cultural interests, media brands and fan communities, expanding the range of experiential travel offerings available to cruise passengers.
