P&O Cruises introduces dedicated comedy engagements aboard Iona and Arvia

In the continued refinement of passenger entertainment aboard large passenger vessels, P&O Cruises has arranged a seasonal programme of live comedy performances to be carried across selected voyages of the ships Iona and Arvia from May through October 2026. The initiative is undertaken in association with the British comedian Jason Manford, whose established comedy platform is to be adapted for maritime operation.

Under the arrangement, performers selected by Manford are to appear on designated evenings within the Limelight Club, a confined venue configured for cabaret-style presentation. The programme provides for approximately seventy comedians to deliver a total of one hundred and forty performances across the season, integrated into itineraries serving northern and southern European routes.

Access to the performances is to be managed by ticketed entry, with each engagement structured as a double bill and restricted to adult audiences. The format is intended to provide a contained and scheduled form of evening entertainment, supplementing the standard range of shipboard activities and aligning with the operational rhythm of port calls and sea days.

Company representatives have indicated that the collaboration with Manford is intended to strengthen the onboard entertainment offering, noting that the association with a widely recognised figure in British comedy allows for the introduction of a distinct programme within the fleet’s existing facilities.

Manford has been reported as expressing support for the initiative, indicating that the concept involves transferring his established comedy club format to a maritime setting. It has been outlined that the programme will extend across thirty-five voyages, covering itineraries to France, Spain, Italy and the Norwegian fjords, with the intention of providing passengers access to contemporary live comedy within the course of their passage.

The Limelight Club aboard both vessels, designed as an enclosed dining and performance space, serves as the operational setting for these engagements, combining staged entertainment with hospitality service.
