VidantaWorld Voyages has unveiled its 2027 Mediterranean programme for the ultra-yacht Elegant, with the season centred on a series of extended coastal voyages and a solar eclipse sailing positioned within the Mediterranean path of totality.

On August 2nd, 2027, Elegant is scheduled to sail between Kalamata and Chania in Crete while positioned directly beneath the eclipse track. From open decks at sea, guests are expected to witness the full sequence of the eclipse under unobstructed horizons, from first contact through totality. The company indicated that the vessel’s navigational flexibility would allow positioning adjustments intended to optimise viewing conditions throughout the event.

The Mediterranean season also includes a call at Cannes on May 12th, 2027 to coincide with the opening days of the Cannes Film Festival, placing the vessel alongside one of Europe’s principal cultural gatherings. According to Grupo Vidanta executive vice president Ivan Chavez, the itineraries had been structured around extended time in destinations and around events considered defining moments for the regions visited, including both the Cannes festival and the eclipse voyage.

The company noted that viewing the eclipse from sea offered practical advantages over land-based observation, including uninterrupted sightlines, reduced congestion and the ability to reposition according to weather and visibility. Passenger capacity aboard Elegant will remain limited to 216 guests, despite the vessel originally having been constructed to accommodate more than 600.

VidantaWorld Voyages stated that the ship had been redesigned to provide a more spacious onboard environment, with enlarged suites and public areas intended to create an atmosphere closer to that of a private yacht than a conventional cruise vessel. Chavez said the refit had focused on reducing density aboard the ship rather than increasing amenities, with the intention of emphasising space, ease of movement and highly personalised service.

The vessel’s accommodations include oversized residential-style suites, while selected categories offer butler service. Public spaces have been arranged to support an open-plan layout, complemented by a near one-to-one crew-to-guest ratio.

Throughout the 2027 season, itineraries have been planned with extended port stays, overnight calls and late-evening departures intended to allow guests additional time ashore after daytime tourist traffic subsides. Overnight stays are scheduled in destinations including Mykonos, Santorini and Monte Carlo, while tender operations are expected to provide flexible shore access in smaller ports.

Chavez indicated that the programme had been developed to emphasise the Mediterranean after sunset, noting that many of the region’s defining moments occur during evening hours rather than during standard daytime port calls.

The programme includes a series of 7-night sailings divided across several regional themes. Spring departures between April and June will focus on Portugal, Spain, France and Italy during the quieter early-season period. Summer itineraries will include voyages along the Italian coast and sailings through the Adriatic and Greek islands, with calls in Croatia, Montenegro and Greece. The eclipse voyage, operating roundtrip from Athens between July 31st and August 7th, 2027, will form the centrepiece of the season. Late-season departures in September will revisit Spain, France and Italy during the closing weeks of the Mediterranean summer.

Reservations for the 2027 programme are now open, with the company reporting strong early interest in both the eclipse voyage and the Cannes sailing.
